Lawyer Profile

Leslie practices primarily in the area of criminal law. Leslie has extensive experience and expertise as counsel in the criminal justice system; she practiced for 27 years as a Senior Crown Prosecutor prior to joining Cuelenaere LLP and has now practiced for 10 years as a defence counsel. Leslie has appeared as counsel at all levels of court in Saskatchewan, conducting more than one thousand trials. Leslie has been recognized for her exceptional abilities and is rated by her peers as having a very high legal ability and high ethical standards, receiving a “BV Peer Review” Rating by Martindale-Hubbell. She was appointed Queen’s Counsel (SK) in 2013.

Leslie is Chair of the Practitioner Staff Appeal Tribunal, Ministry of Health. She sits as an Employment Standards Adjudicator, is Vice-Chair of the Saskatchewan Police Commission and a Member of the Saskatchewan Review Board. Leslie is also a member of the Faculty of The Law Society of Saskatchewan Trial Advocacy Workshop.

Professional & Community Involvement

A former President of the Saskatoon Bar Association, Leslie has taught Trial Advocacy as a Sessional Lecturer with the College of Law, University of Saskatchewan and has instructed at the CPLED Saskatchewan Bar Admission Course. Leslie is a member of the Law Society of Saskatchewan, the Canadian Bar Association, the Saskatchewan Trial Lawyers Association, and the Saskatoon Criminal Defence Lawyers Association.

Born and raised in Montreal, Quebec, Leslie has called Saskatchewan home for more than fifty years. Leslie lives in Saskatoon with her husband, Jim, a landscape designer. Leslie and Jim have two children, two dogs and three grandchildren. Leslie enjoys cycling, swimming and everything to do with her grandchildren.
